Paperwork you need
PLEASE READ: Valid travel documentation is required. Each angler must have a valid passport, Mexican fishing permit, FMM card, and biosphere bracelet. Captain Pablo can assist in acquiring these documents for an additional fee, with a total cost of $100 per passenger.
How the day runs
Dock to island and back
Step 1
Early departure
Documents checked at the dock, safety briefing, then a roughly 1.5-hour run south to the islands.
Step 2
Island fishing
Work the ridge, hard bottom and kelp lines for yellowtail, bass and whatever the season is producing.
Step 3
Deep-water stops
Rockfish and ling cod drops on the way back when conditions allow.
Step 4
Return to Mission Bay
Run north, fillet at the dock.

Coronado Islands charters from San Diego
The Coronado Islands sit roughly 18 miles south of Point Loma in Mexican water, and they are the classic San Diego yellowtail trip. Leaving Mission Bay early puts us on the weather side of North Island for the grey-light bite, then working the ridge, the Middle Grounds and South Island as the sun comes up.
This is a private charter for up to four anglers, so the day is built around your group — surface iron on breaking fish, dropper loops on the hard structure, or a slow troll between spots while the bait tank refills. Yellowtail, calico bass, bonito, barracuda and rockfish are all in play, with white seabass and bluefin possible when the season lines up.
Because the islands are in Mexico, every angler needs a Mexican fishing license and passport paperwork. Captain Pablo has run this crossing for years and walks San Diego, Chula Vista and South Bay anglers through exactly what to bring before the trip is confirmed.
