We Fish What's Biting Now
Southern California's fishery changes throughout the year. Water temperature, bait movement, weather, and migration patterns all influence which species are biting — and where they can be found.
Rather than chasing a fish that is out of season or no longer in the area, Fernandez Charters targets the species offering the best opportunity at the time of your trip. We follow current conditions, recent fishing activity, and local reports to develop the strongest possible game plan before leaving the dock.
While no captain can guarantee what the ocean will produce, we will always work hard to put you in the right place, with the right gear, at the right time — and give you the best possible chance to get on the bite.

Who we are
Fernandez Charters
We are based out of Seaforth Marina (Mission Bay) in San Diego, CA. We offer many options for private charters with our specialty being offshore and inshore sportfishing.
We specialize in family friendly trips year round as the seasons change but fishing never ends. We target all species found in our waters — bluefin, yellowfin, yellowtail, dorado, white sea bass, halibut, calico bass, ling cod and rock cod. During the open season for California spiny lobster (approximately October–April) we offer hoop net trips to get you out to catch the most coveted lobster on the planet.
Voyages helmed by Captain Pablo Fernandez who holds a U.S. Coast Guard Certified Master Captain with a background as an ocean lifeguard, paramedic and fire department captain. Passenger safety is our primary objective throughout any voyage.

A Boston Whaler 285 Conquest equipped with the latest electronics, a 70-gallon midship bait tank, 34-gallon auxiliary bait tank, new Twin Honda BF 250 outboards, tuna tower and a 300+ mile range.
This is a very stable, open fishing platform with a full head (toilet), shower, galley, comfortable seating and accommodates up to 6 guests, with 4 being the "sweet spot." She is truly built for comfort and speed.
